About the NLASAR

The National Ladies Auxiliary of the Sons of the American Revolution (NLASAR) is an association formed in 2003 to support the National Society Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR). Women connected to NSSAR compatriots are invited to join NLASAR to support its mission, assist NSSAR in promoting membership, and further its society’s objectives and patriotic activities.

NLASAR began under the leadership of the first and second presidents, Linda Moran and Kathy Watson, in California, where they had formed a state ladies’ organization. Other state auxiliaries soon formed, and as “Ladies for the SAR Library,” NLASAR raised funds from the sale of cookbooks to purchase tables and chairs for the SAR Library headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.  State auxiliaries are instrumental in supporting NLASAR’s initiatives.

Auxiliary is rooted at the local level and supported by SAR chapters and state societies. Women are encouraged to become members of their state ladies’ auxiliary to assist at this local level. If a state society does not have an auxiliary, women are encouraged to become members-at-large of NLASAR. Membership in a state-affiliated auxiliary automatically qualifies as membership in the national society without additional dues.

During the two NSSAR Leadership meetings in Louisville and also during the NSSAR Congress, the ladies are scheduled for meetings, social friendship opportunities, activities, programs, and a luncheon. Programs usually focus on patriotism or history. The ladies engage in fundraising activities at these meetings and have raised thousands of dollars to assist SAR.
